11 SECURITY INNOVATION AND CULTURE We have exclusively interviewed Rocco Fusillo - president of Ersi, association that includes all the main experts in the security market. We have discussed Elf, the most important event in the security department in Europe, that this year will be hosted by Ersi. The convention will be held in Bologna, city of porticoes, on May 10th and 11th. iKey: What is the current status of the security business? Rocco Fusillo: the business is evolving towards mechatronics and electronics, with an increasing use of digital devices for access control. Thanks to specific apps, we are now able to use our smart phones to unlock our home, car, garage and more. The growing synergy between the components of a security system and the existing technology is now able to satisfy every costumer. iKey: How has Ersi been performing during your presidency? R.C: ERSI is the point of reference for everyone working in this market; its job is to provide the knowledge and tools that allow all the members to work towards the common final aim of giving the best possible service to the final consumer. In the past ten years ERSI focused on further training of its associates and on the recognition and validation of locksmiths. We’ve had many meetings and occasions to exchange pieces of information and points of view on the strengths and weaknesses of the market and the new technologies. iKey: Did the needs of the partners change over the years? R.C: The needs of the partners didn’t change, but the requirements of the market did. The final consumer has access to so much information, but doesn’t always have the skills to identify the best solution. Our partners are constantly working to improve their skills and knowledge, in order to always provide the best response. iKey: Is it important for you to come together and discuss the market situation? R.C: This market is constantly growing and changing; therefore, it is crucial for us to always create opportunities for dialogue and confrontation of ideas. iKey: Elf Convention and Ersi together: how did the idea come to life? R.C: Elf organize an international annual convention that brings together professionals from all over the world; every year, a different Country member of the Elf association organizes the convention. This year we have the honor to do it. It isn’t our first time hosting the convention. We know it will be as successful as the previous editions held in Rome, Venice and Florence. iKey: What is new about this 2019 event? R.C: ERSI is an important point of reference for our market. Some of the things you can expect to find are conferences, training seminars, presentations of new products and moments of direct confrontation and conviviality. anche se spesso non ha le competenze per poter scegliere la miglior soluzione per il suo specifico problema. R.C: Il nostro è un mercato quanto mai ricettivo e vivace sotto questo punto di vista. Tutti noi avvertiamo forte la necessità di incontrarci, confrontarci, guardare, ascoltare e imparare. Il mercato della sicurezza è in costante e continua evoluzione. Ha necessità quindi di focus puntuali sullo stato delle cose, sia dal punto di vista tecnico che strutturale. iKey: Convegno ERSI ed Elf Convention insieme: com’è nata questa idea? R.C: ELF, la federazione che raggruppa le associazioni di molti paesi europei, organizza tutti gli anni una convention internazionale alla quale partecipano professionisti provenienti da tutto il mondo. I paesi membri ospitano a turno l’evento e quest’anno siamo noi italiani ad avere l’onore di organizzarlo. Non è la prima volta, lo abbiamo già fatto in passato a Roma, Venezia e Firenze e siamo certi che anche questa edizione sarà un successo. iKey: Cosa può dirci delle novità di questa edizione che riunisce il meglio della sicurezza italiana e europea? R.C: Il convegno ERSI rappresenta un importante punto di riferimento del settore e una risposta vincente a un mercato che chiede occasioni di confronto e aggiornamento, un luogo dove innovazione e cultura della sicurezza si incontrano. Saranno diversi i temi affrontati e tante le novità presentate. I lavori si articoleranno nelle due giornate, alternando conferenze, seminari tecnici, presentazione di nuovi prodotti, confronto diretto con le aziende produttrici e momenti di convivialità.
